We at PlayStreet believe in bringing you the interventions that matter the most. And so, for the first time in India, PlayStreet is organising a summit on connecting the need and importance of Relationships, Movement and Consciousness to accept, understand and believe individuals with autism. The speakers include renowned experts, public figures, authors and  individuals with autism from across the globe.

Meet our speakers:

WHY RELATIONSHIP-BASED?

First and foremost, every individual is a “being” and every human being thrives the best when he/she feels secure, competent and valued. Understand how this core principle is leading the research to create relationship-based interventions for individuals with autism.

WHY MOVEMENT-BASED?

The mind, body and spirit are connected and balance between the three is an integral part of wellness and thriving.

Movement is important for child development and promoting movement and activity in young children can help increase memory, perception, language, attention, emotion and even decision making. When language is combined with movement, learning increases by 90 percent. Movement has also been shown to help calm and promote alertness in children.

Research says,

  • Up to 80% of children with Autism show motor coordination deficits (Green 2009, Hilton, Zhang, Whilte, Klohr and Constantino 2012)
  • Impaired calibration of the relationship between their body and the environment, is strongly correlated with social and communication impairments (Linkenauger, Lerner, Ramenzonni & Profitt 2012)
  • Dyspraxia is a core feature of ASD, rather than a comorbid or associated disorder (MacNeil & Mostofsky 2012)

WHY CONSCIOUSNESS-BASED?

If you have no judgment of anything, then you get to look at everything for what it is; not for what you want it to be, not for what it ought to be, but just for what it is. Would that gift you the freedom you have been searching for?

Consciousness is the ability to be present in your life in every moment, without judgment of you or anyone else. It is the ability to receive everything, reject nothing, and create everything you desire in life – greater than what you currently have, and more than what you can imagine.

Keeping in sync with all the current research, PlayStreet is bringing together speakers to talk about understanding the process of attunement and secured attachment, the effects of movement and rhythm on learning and understanding the autism spectrum without any judgment.
